Skip Prosser Literacy Program
Spreading Love for Reading
During my time as a marketing intern for the Skip Prosser Literacy Program, I had the rewarding opportunity to connect young readers with life-changing stories. The program's mission to inspire children and teenagers to embrace literacy aligns perfectly with my passion for youth development through education. I focused on promoting the program through targeted marketing strategies, including community outreach, social media campaigns, and partnerships with local schools and libraries. My work aimed to not only spread the word about our initiative but also foster a love for reading in children, helping to improve literacy rates among teens and encourage lifelong learning.

Social Media Campaign
As part of our social media campaign for the Skip Prosser Literacy Program, we showcase action shots from our school visits, capturing the excitement of our interactions with students. We also share stories about the books we're reading as interns to inspire young readers. Additionally, we have developed a dedicated website that compiles videos from Wake Forest students in education courses, offering engaging messages for 4th graders. These videos are sent to teachers, who can play them in the classroom, creating a dynamic connection between our interns and the students.

School Visit
During our school visits for the Skip Prosser Literacy Program, we engage with children to discuss the joys of reading and the importance of collective storytelling. We emphasize that everyone reads together, and we often conduct reading-out-loud sessions with the kids.

Read with The Deacs
As part of the Skip Prosser Literacy Program, we collectively read and share insights on teenage fiction, focusing on how we can transform these books into fun, engaging activities for kids each week. We are collaborating with various on-campus organizations to promote our reading sessions and raise awareness about our featured book on social media, showcasing our partnership with the author. Additionally, we're thrilled to introduce an interactive challenge for 4th graders inspired by "City Spies" by James Ponti. To spark interest and participation, we’re creating vibrant posters around campus and reaching out to elementary school teachers to invite their students to join in on the fun!
